Hua Hin and Hua Hin Beach

 

Hua Hin

Hua Hin Town is located approximately 281 kilometers south away from Bangkok. In Thai language, the meaning of hua hin is stone head. Although the town is the first beach resort in Thailand, it's still very popular and famous. Not only is the location clean white sand, crystal clear water, and a tranquil atmosphere, but also its seafood is the best one in this country.

Ban Samoe Rieng, or Ban Laem Hin (Stony Point Village) is the original name of the town. The consequence of construction of a railway station in the town as part of the Southern Railroad in the reign of King Rama VI (1910 - 1925) was Hua Hin became popular for its many quite fishing villages. In addition, the village had totally been reformed into a high-society resort town for royalty since the Summer Palace of King Rama VII was built. Today, the Royal Family have been residing at the Palace for soem parts of the year.

After the construction, the Railway Hotel (or well-known today as the Sofitel Central Hotel) was built in the town. This elegant Victorian-style resort hotel is also the first standard golf course in the country. And then the number of hotels and resorts has been increasing throughout the town. Tourists would enjoy swimming, fishing, shopping and golfing in the country’s best resort town.

Today, the town is very famous beach town with word-class facilities coupled with a true sense of Thai hospitality. One of the popular places is Hua Hin night market where tourists will enjoy dining with fresh seafood, shopping and drinking in the good bar.

Hat Hua Hin (Hua Hin Beach)

The 5 kilometers white sandy beach lined with a wide range of accommodation. From cheap bungalows to luxurious five-star hotels and resorts can be found. The beach which is located at the east side of the city runs from a rocky headland which separates it from a tiny fishing pier and tenderly curves for some three kilometers to the south where the Giant Standing Buddha Sculpture is situated at the foot of Khao Takiap. With its overwhelming peaceful atmosphere, the beach is also the place for various activities such as jogging, walking, sun bathing, horse riding, kite boarding, and other kinds of water sports.

 

 

Getting There

By Bus

Air-conditioned buses depart from Bangkok’s Southern Bus Terminal (on Barommaratch Chonnani Road), or well known as Sai Tai Mai, to Hua Hin and Prachuap Khiri Khan several times daily. The trip takes about 3-4 hours. You can check from www.transport.co.th

By Train

Rapid and Express trains leave from Bangkok's Hualamphong Station to Prachuap Khiri Khan and Hua Hin everyday. The trip takes about 3-3/4 hours. please check from www.railway.co.th

By Car

Drive along Highway No. 35 (Thon Buri-Pak Tho) via Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram Provinces and then turn to Highway No. 4 to Hua Hin. Total distance is 123 kilometers. Alternatively, it is possible to travel via Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi Provinces. There are several ways please check from www.doh.go.th

By Vans

There are direct vans go to Hua Hin, Pranburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan. The van departs from Victory Monument several times daily.

By Air
