Central region of Thailand

 

General Information

Central region of Thailand is located at the heart of the country. It is the center of communication, transportation, government, commercel and education in Thailand. The region is one of best destination in Thailand; it is the location of various styles of interesting places such as historical parks, world class resort beaches, ancient temples and shopping centers.

The region is rich in natural resources which appropriates for agriculture which is the primary occupation of local people; most careers of local people are farmers, orchardmen and agriculturists. However, Bangkok is the exeption; there are several occupations of city people.

Around the capital city, Bangkok, at the neighbor province such as Pathum Thani, Ayutthaya, Samut Phakarn, Nakhon Prathom, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon and Chachoengsao have many factories and industrail parks locating there.


Geography

Central region covers an area about 177,900 square kilometers. Most geography of the region are low-plain; many important rivers in the country flow through the region. This low and large plain is good for agriculture, and it's the strongest point of region. It is the reson that most people from other regions migrate to this region. The following is the region is the highest rate of population in the country.

Mountain ranges are located around the region. They are natural borders between Central region and orther regions, neighbor countries. Seashore locating on the south of the region is a waterway for communication. Geography on the west of the region is plateau and montain ranges which is in the area of Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi province.

Boundary

On the north side of the region borders North region of Thailand.

On the east side of the region borders North-East region, Cambodia and East region.

On the west side of the region borders the neighbor country, Myanmar.

On the south side of the region is Gulf of Thailand and borders South region of Thailand.

Weather

There are 3 seasons including summer is during March to May, rainy season is from June to November and winter is from December to February. The temperature is hot, during summer the temperature is about 30-35° celcius.


Interesting

Central region is the source of various interesting destinations-for example historical places, natural places, adventurous activities, luxury resort beaches, shopping centers, ancient temples etc.

Natural places can be found at the suburb of the region. Both on the north and west of the region are rich in natural resources. Splendid waterfalls, charming caves, wonderful scenery, rare wild animals are the great attractions.

Go down to the south of the region, the 2 famous province, Prachuap Kriri Khan and Phetchaburi, are located. These provinces are the location of the world class resort beaches and famous national parks. The largest national park in Thailand is Kaeng Krachan National Park which covers an area of Phetchaburi province and Prachuap Kriri Khan province about 2,915 square kilometers. Hua Hin and Cha-am are the twin beach resort town. Several times per year, there are many festivals there.

Central region is the ancient region which has a long history. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is the location of the old prosperous kingdom named "Ayutthaya"; The old province was the capital city of Thailand before the kingdom was destroyed by Burmese in 1767. After the destruction, the capital has been transfered to Bangkok until now. However, the ancient temples which were built during Ayutthaya period have also been the worthy of remembrance so far today.

Bangkok, the capital city, is the center of everthing in Thailand. It is a home of billion Thai people. The attractions of the big city are magnificent architecture temples, various shopping malls, several hotels, guesthouses, nightlife with numerous famous pubs, bars and five star restaurants. Bangkok is also the center of transportation to other regions or destinations in Thailand.
